Emotional Intelligence: EQ is considered to be critical because it tells how well a person can take quick decisions and manage under pressure. 75% of hiring managers valued EQ over IQ. 

Adaptability: Employers value employees who successfully manage changes in the workplace and it is directly related to productivity, making them the most valuable members of the organization!

Time Management: Time is a vital resource which can’t be earned back and have to be planned properly for high productivity. 14% of people who set goals are ten times more successful than those who don’t in the workplace.

Creativity: Creativity fuels innovations. Creativity is related to 9 of the top 10 skills that global executives say is essential for 2020 and beyond! Also, 94% of hiring managers say it is important to consider creativity when hiring a job candidate.

Collaboration75% of employees regard collaboration and teamwork as important and 83% of employees rely on technology for collaboration. Given the current scenario, the collaboration will be the only factor taking companies to a higher level. 

The other soft skills in consideration are persuasion, self-motivation & storytelling. These pave way for higher career aspirations, making a person highly resilient and be the change-maker in the forthcoming digital era.

Upskilling is the process to either level up already existing skills or equipping advanced skills through training and learning. Upskilling as a concept is slowly catching up in organizations as the management is investing their time, effort and money to upskill their workforce. Especially after the recent pandemic, where the company’s budgets are limited, they are trying to upskill their employees instead of hiring more.

This saves a lot of capital for the organization and improves the quality of the workforce. 42% of the companies have increased their upskilling game after the COVID19 outbreak.

Upskilling employees? What’s in it for the organization?

Upskilling can be used to target both soft skills and technical skills. The choice lies with the employees. In a survey done by Workable, it showed that 50% of the employees went for both hard and soft skills in their upskilling process.

Upskilling is a win-win situation for both the organization and the employees. While the organization can reap the benefits in the form of the quality workforce, reduced budgets on human resources and the employees update their knowledge and abilities. 80% of the employees have said that upskilling has boosted their confidence in their work life. This confidence can directly result in a more effective work schedule and better results.

Yes! It is already established that the organizations should work on the welfare of their employees, and upskilling is something they would happily undergo looking at their own best interest.
